Out with the old

In with the new

Kate and I just got finished with a redesign of the West End Word. And as a nice little topper I got to do the front page illustration. Thanks to Kate and Caroline for the critiques and pow wows. You guys are the best.

ART FIX Benefit/Auction

I'm happy to say I'll be doing some live painting and contributing a piece to the Art Fix Auction this year. Art Fix benefits Rebuilding Together - St. Louis, which is a great cause. Can't wait!

check 'em out

...Yes it works. If you're getting an error message its my fault. The pieces from the show Soon Again, are available through the gallery in Dallas. It will have a 'Contact Rising Gallery. www.risinggallery.com' where the price should be. If you are interested in any of these pieces feel free to contact Rising. They are amazing people

Bless this mess

Yes I cleaned up. Mostly.

Just a few more process shots from The Leviathan and The Flea.

This is a poster I did for a short film by Christopher Jordan called Inanition. Its a wonderfully haunting short. Keep an eye for it.

Bird Strike 3

Not so fine

Pity parties are overrated

You win some, you lose some I guess. The J Fine Art show ended up falling through. Some of you have already heard my rant on that. No need for a semi-public blog beatdown. The pity party was attended by me, myself and I. It was cool enough. I ate some chips, made my rounds. After a while it got old so I dusted myself off and got back to work. For every triumph a fall, for every fall a triumph. So it goes.

The failures stay with you longer than the victories. If they don't you're doing something wrong.

Baaaad Oscar Mayer

Generally, if one plans on breaking the traffic laws of our fair city (fare?) - one should do so in a less conspicuous mode of transport. I shake my fist at your illegal U-turn. You win Oscar Mayer Wienermobile...this time.

Shows, shows and mo' shows

Ha, this is hilarious...news bulletin to my two followers, who I talk to everyday anyway and subsequently know all of my 'news'

Two solos coming up, both in September. The first is here in St. Louis, September 10th at Concrete Ocean. The second is September 11th in Taos NM at J Fine Art. Rising Gallery hooked up the Taos show, which was pretty awesome of them. I should have somewhere around 30-40 pieces headed out that way. Varnish is presently drying. That's right I'm ahead of schedule (for now anyway). The Concrete Ocean show "The Leviathan & the Flea" is still taking shape, but I'm pretty excited about the work and the space. I'm shooting for another 40 or so pieces - 4 of which will be 4'x2'. Thought about messing with some sculpture, but, maybe next time around. I will have zero days between the completion of the Taos show and the switching of focus to the STL show. fun fun. August will be a blur.

Bird Strike 2

more dead birds

Hands up

Remnants of
Grandma's house

We forgot Jesus

Outside of work, there is a certain sidewalk square that seems to be some sort of magnet for dead birds. There is something especially tragic about seeing fallen birds. Something odd about something so free being unceremoniously plucked from the heavens. Something a bit off about so many falling in the same 3'x3' square. Aviane Bermuda Triangle I suppose. I started photographing them last summer.

Southside St. Louis.

Forgive the image quality. It will take me a few posts to find out what settings work best. And probably a few more before I actually have a clear idea of where this abomination of a blog is heading. until then... enjoy some of this and a bit of that.

Neptune, unimpressed with...everything.

Have to start somewhere

It's taken me a bit longer to break the eggs for this omelet than it normally might. But I figure I get zero traffic on my site so it doesn't matter much what I post. So lets begin. Perhaps with a few photos.
